Hike - Air Force Academy Kettle Lakes/Creek

This is a nice winter hike with minimal elevation gain (~200 ft) covering about 3-3.5 miles and will probably take about 2-2.5 hours. It’s located just before you enter the South entrance of the Air Force Academy. We’ll make a loop around the 3 Kettle Lakes and part of Kettle Creek. Fresh snow and maybe some sunshine makes this a very pretty hike through the trees and around the lakes and creek. It is suitable for all hikers but I recommend bringing hiking poles. Traction devices and gators to wrap around your boots are good ideas also in case we have deep snow. As always, bring water, snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses and extra layers of clothing. In case of excessive snow / ice necessitating cancellation, all signups will receive an email by 8:30 AM Sunday morning if the hike is cancelled.

Let's plan to meet at 10:00 am at the Pass and Registration building that is about 100 yards before the south gate to the AF Academy. See the link below. So from I25, just take the South AF Academy exit and about 100 yards BEFORE the gate, turn right (north) on the first road you see and park behind the only building there which is Pass and Registration. I’ll be in my Maroon Toyota Sequoia.
