Hike - N. Cheyenne Canon/Daniels Pass **REVISED 8-10-2022**

Access to North Cheyenne Canon by Cheyenne Road is now available once again. In addition, there are some new trails that are open for our hiking pleasure in the upper sections of this park. The planned routing for this hike will allow us to experience a portion of the new Daniels Pass/Bruin Trail network located off Gold Camp Road and in the shadow of Mt Muscoco. We will be doing a loop hike with a total distance of about 5 miles with about 400 feet elevation gain. The overall rating is “moderate”. Due to limited space for parking in the lot at the trailhead at Gold Camp Rd and High Drive, it is recommended to meet the group in the parking area for the Starsmore Visitor And Nature Center. From there, we will carpool the short distance to the trailhead. Meet at 7:45am at: Address: 2120 S. Cheyenne Canyon Rd Colorado Springs CO. Directions: Revised (8/10/22) Directions to Starsmore Visitor Center parling lot.
Due to a road closure on Cresta Road, it is recommended that you use this alternate route:
From Hwy 24 (Cimarron), head South on 8th St (just west of I-25) for 1.9 miles then turn right on Cheyenne Blvd and head West for 1.6 miles to Starsmore Visitor And Nature Center. From Hwy 24 (Cimarron), head South on 21st St/Cresta for about 2 miles. Turn right on Cheyenne Blvd (just past Cheyenne Mountain High School) and head West about 1 mile to Starsmore Visitor And Nature Center. From southbound Nevada St, turn right on Cheyenne Blvd and head west for about 3 miles to Starsmore Visitor And Nature Center. Check the following website for more information about North Cheyenne Canon Park, the Daniels Pass Trail and the Bruin Trail. www.coloradosprings.gov/page/north-cheyenne-canon As usual, make sure you bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen and extra layers of clothing.
