Saturday October 18, 2025. We will meet up between 8:45 and 9:00 AM, just after entering the park via the Maizeland Road entry gate. The address is 3650 Maizeland Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. Immediately after entering the park, turn right and go east into the parking lot, past the playground, to the easternmost parking lot, where we will start out on the Greencrest Trail.

Hike Description

This hike has minimal elevation, and is walkable, but the loop we will be hiking is around 6 miles, so I rate this hike as intermediate, because of the length. Dogs are allowed on leash. We will hike the Greencrest Trail north, close to Austin Bluffs Parkway, then transfer to the Palmer Point Trail. which will take us south to the alternate gate entry to the park, at Paseo Road. After crossing the road, we will continue on the Palmer Point Trail east until we complete the loop, intersecting the Greencrest Trail. At that point, we have completed the loop, and will retrace our steps on the Greencrest Trail, where we started out, a short distance back to the parking lot.

The hike will take about 2 to 3 hours, with some break time(s). As noted, it is a loop hike, with occasional stoppages to take in the views. Palmer Park, right in the middle of town, is a jewel of a park, with many trails, and is quite popular.

As always, bring plenty of water and snacks.

If the weather does not cooperate, always a possibility for a late season hike, and the hike is canceled, I will email all who have signed up by 8:30 AM that day.
