We will meet up at the parking area at the intersection of Mount Herman Road and Nursery Road at 8:30am. From there we will carpool the final 5 miles to the trailhead, due to limited trailhead parking and the rough road, which recommends high-clearance vehicles. To get to the meeting point, head North on I-25 from Colorado Springs to the Monument exit (Exit 161), Then turn left onto Hiway 105 and proceed into Monument. When Hiway 105 bends to the right at the stop light, keep West instead of turning. You will proceed West on 2nd Street. After crossing the railroad tracks, turn left on Mitchell Ave. Go South on Mitchell to Mount Herman Road and turn right until reaching Nursery Road. Turn left there and you will be at the meetup point parking area.

This hike is suited for seasoned hikers only. It is only about 2.1 miles in and out, but with about 1000 ft of elevation gain. The final push involves some rock climbing and can be quite challenging. There are numerous huge rocks at the top and the views are spectacular. The "wind sock" is still there and a strongbox can be opened to write down the date and time we hiked it. The descent is steep as well and a bit gravelly. Good hiking shoes are a must and poles if you like to use them for better support. As always, bring water, snacks, sunscreen and extra layers of clothing. It is highly recommended not to bring dogs.
