About this event
All participants meet at the parking lot lot above Helen Hunt Falls, known as the "Hub", because it is the starting point for so many trails. Be there between 8:00am and 8:15am. We will start by hiking north on High Drive to the trailhead for #667, which is named Captain Jack's Trail on some maps and Jones Trail on others.
This "moderate" hike is suited for experienced hikers, with about 1500 ft of elevation gain. We will hike the trail #667 to the intersection with #622A, which is at the upper end of the Seven Bridges Trail, and proceed a short distance down #622A into a wonderland of Aspen trees, which will be as far as we go. After a break and photos, we will return the way we came. The in and out distance will be approximately 8 miles. Note that the original plan to get to the Aspen grove was the Seven Bridges Trail #622, which becomes very rugged and hazardous after Bridge 7, so a better alternative to get to the trees is Trail #667.
Dogs are recommended to be left at home, as the trail is frequented by motorbikes with narrow clearances at times. As always, bring plenty of water, snacks, and sunscreen will likely be needed.
