We will start our hike at the trailhead for the Red Rock Canyon Trail. The selected route is somewhat different than in previous years and will take us over portions of 6 trails for a total distance of about 5 miles. The rating is “moderate” and there is an elevation gain of about 500 feet.
Directions: Head west on Hwy 24 (Cimarron) to Ridge Read, about .5 miles
beyond 31st Street. Turn left and enter roundabout and proceed east on West
High Street to the third (last) parking area at the east end. Parking is less of a problem than in the past with the addition of a new lot at the west end.
Check the following website for more information about the park and it’s trail
network. https://redrockcanyonopenspace.org
As usual, make sure you bring plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen and an extra
layer of clothing. Dogs on leashes are allowed on this hike.
